KwaZulu Natal is the province with everything – great beaches, mountain ranges, wildlife, an abundance of culture, a wonderful climate, plus an astounding array of golf courses!

Including only the best courses and starting at the north, there’s Princes Grant, a wild and wonderful course, which meanders through the sugar cane fields. Very challenging and very interesting. A newer course just down the road in Ballito is Zimbali, designed by Tom Weiskopf and offering some pretty good challenges. Luxury accommodation is available on the estate at the Fairmont Zimbali Lodge.

Durban of course boasts the famous Durban Country Club, still ranked in the top 100 courses in the world, and number six in South Africa. This is traditional golf at its best and the Clubhouse still has an old colonial feel. Not an easy course to get on to, but visitors are allowed. The Club’s sister course – Beachwood – is also worth a game.

Going down the coast you’ll reach Pennington, which is home to Selborne. This is a beautiful course and was the first residential golf development in South Africa, designed and built in 1987 by owner Dennis Barker. Also in the village is a hidden gem of a course – Umdoni Park. Very hilly, spectacular views and loved by locals and visitors alike.

Next stop is Southbroom, a pretty course with some interesting holes and rated one of the friendliest Clubhouses and Pro Shops on the coast. San Lameer, an undulating course with many water features is just down the road and poses quite a few challenges.

Last but not least is the Wild Coast Sun, a truly spectacular layout and rated number eleven in the country. This course never fails to impress with its amazing design and unusual natural features – like the 13th Par 3, a daunting drive across a ravine to the green, passing a waterfall on the way. The 18th is an amazing challenge – a long drive over the Umtumzuna River, in view of everyone in the clubhouse. When the bell tolls, you know you’re in the river!

There are few big hotels on the South Coast, but some wonderful guest houses and a very nice accommodation at the Mondazur Resort Hotel at San Lameer. All the courses are within easy reach. There are lots of other, lesser courses on the coast that beginners or high handicappers may want to try.

Whether you are just two golfers or a larger group we’ll take care of every aspect of your golfing holiday – including organising activities for non-golfers.

The way we operate is quite simple – you tell us when you plan to come to South Africa and we take it from there.

Once you arrive in South Africa we’ll take care of your accommodation, transport, tee times, sightseeing, visits to wine estates, restaurant reservations, shopping trips, safaris and sunset cruises.

You can either contact us by email or telephone us. Every year more and more clients return to us to arrange their holidays – both golfers and non golfers.

KwaZulu Natal is a Golfers Paradise.

Western Cape Golf Courses

De Zalze | Erinvale | Devonvale | Stellenbosch | Arabella | Steenberg

De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate, the home of the highly esteemed De Zalze Golf Club is situated just outside of Cape Town in the renowned winemaking epicentre of the Western Cape, Stellenbosch. This stunning town plays host to some of the most spectacularly beautiful expanses of land in the Cape and De Zalze is no exception. The course has hosted the World Amateur Championships as well as the largest ever South African Amateur Championships back in 2006.

Course architect Peter Matkovich, designer of the Leopard Rock, Arabella and Pinnacle Point courses, to name a few, has created a stunning course and succeeded in creating an course where accuracy is valued above all else. Challenges include the devastatingly well positioned water hazards in combination with parkland holes and the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which twists and turns its way into the run of play.

This exquisite golf club, South Africa’s fourth eldest, has had the fortune of being set within the heart of Southern Africa’s famed Winelands Region, Stellenbosch. The 18 hole par 72, Championship course, as already mentioned, has over a century of history to its name and it’s also worth mentioning that it wasn’t until 1953 that Stellenbosch grew from nine holes to the eighteen it holds today. Having hosted many prestigious events, including both the South African Open and the South African Masters, on its well-manicured kikuyu fairways, Stellenbosch can boast a course that provides a wonderful challenge to the very best as well as at the same time being an incredible adventure for the weekend golfer. Set in the picturesque town of Stellenbosch, with its scenic valleys filled with vineyards of neighbouring farms the golf club is proud to have some of the most stunning panoramic views which can be enjoyed from the clubhouses balcony, along with some of the best locally produced wines.

Set in the Majestic Kogelberg mountain range and bordered by the Bot Rivier Lagoon is the Arabella Golf Course with its tricky bunkers, immaculate Kikuyu fairways and inventive water hazards it is of little wonder that the course has consistently been ranked in South Africa’s top ten courses. The 6381 metre course’s design is the masterpiece of acclaimed South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich, who was commissioned in 1999 and he has most certainly not disappointed. The 18th hole has become something of a legend amongst the South African golfing fraternity and the 8th hole is widely known as one of the most beautiful par five’s in the country. After sinking the 18th you can proudly count your name alongside the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Lee Westwood, Tim Clark and Gary Player.

The Erinvale Golf Course occupies some of the finest estate in the Western Cape and enjoys panoramic views over the seaside town of Somerset West, near Cape Town. Players at Erinvale can enjoy the views of changing terrain as the Golf course spills over into forested and residential areas before meeting the expansive False Bay. To the left are clear views of the Hottentots’ Holland Mountain Range which seems to extend endlessly into the Indian Ocean. Having proudly hosted the World Cup of Golf in 1996 and twice the SAA open of Golf, Erinvale falls into the premium category of course. Designed by Gary Player the courses front and back nine offer completely different experiences as well as challenges as the former takes you through the more residential terrain and the latter carve their way into the slopes of the formidable Helderberg Mountains. Erinvale is sprinkled with water holes and dotted with sand-traps, so keep your eye out and your game on. You are guaranteed to remember this one.

Set in the back drop of the Constantiaberg Mountain Range, just a stone’s throw away from the Tokai Forest and enjoying some of the finest real estate that Southern Africa has to offer, it is of little wonder that Steenberg Golf Club is one of the most prestigious Golf Courses in South Africa. Designed by premiere course architect, Peter Matkovich, Steenberg Golf Course is open only guests of the Steenberg Hotel, club members and their guests. Steenberg Estate, upon which the Golf Course has been built, dates back to 1682 when Governor Simon van der Stel granted the land to a Catharina Ulstings Ras. In 1994 the transformation from a working farm to world leading golf course began and from the official opening in 1996 the investors haven’t looked back. The Steenberg Golf Estate has been a monumental success. Five different tees provide a fabulous range of play that caters from junior to championship level and features four distinct environmental areas - Wetlands, Parklands, Fynbos and The Cape Flats. The grounds abound in wildlife and are meticulously manicured by the staff. In fact, it is held to have the best greens in Cape Town. The club is the envy of many and has recently been voted “Top foreign golf resort” by Conde Nast Traveller readers. Signature holes are the 7th and the 14th and the club has first class facilities including a halfway house, locker rooms, bar/lounge, Pro shop, club house and practise range.

“As far as course layouts go, in terms of aesthetics and conditioning, they are on a par with the best modern golf courses around the world. What to Consider

Here are some suggestions to get you thinking:

~ How many golf games do you want to play in total?

~ Do you wish a self drive golf vacation package or would you prefer to have your own driver and vehicle?

~ Do you wish some dinners included? We frequently get better rates for combined dinner bed and breakfast packages and usually recommend taking dinner on your arrival night at each new location.

~ Do you wish any other activities arranged such as city tours, distillery visits, and other sports such as off road driving or fishing on maybe a rest day from the golf? A rest day is recommended if your golf package is longer than 8 days.

~ Do you wish any special garments made up for you with your own group name or individuals name embroidered on golf hats, polo shirts or sweaters?

~ Do you wish any tuition included during the tour? Groups have asked us to arrange a group golf practice session with a local golf pro to sort out any weaknesses in the golf swing during a tour.

We can also plan an itinerary for non-golf playing spouses while you are on the golf course.
